Should, Ought to and Had better
✳️ معنی ساده:
هر دوتا تقریباً یک معنی دارن: "باید..." یا "بهتره که..."
یعنی داری به کسی پیشنهاد یا توصیه میکنی کاری رو انجام بده، ولی با لحن ملایم. نه با اجبار، نه با تهدید.
He ought to apologize. اون باید معذرتخواهی کنه.
We shouldn't be late. ما نباید دیر کنیم.
You ought not to lie. تو نباید دروغ بگی. (رسمیتر)
📌 نکته: "Should" رایجتر و غیررسمیتره. "Ought to" رسمیتره و در نوشتار بیشتر دیده میشه.
- Should I talk to her? به نظرت باهاش صحبت کنم؟
- Who should I call? به کی باید زنگ بزنم؟
Should گاهی نظر شخصیه،
Ought to معمولاً توصیه بر اساس قانون، قاعده، یا نظر متخصصه.
این ساختار یعنی: "باید فلان کار رو کرده بودی" یا "ای کاش انجامش داده بودی"
📌 ساختار: should/ought to + have + past participle
You ought to have told her. (باید بهش میگفتی.)
We shouldn't have gone there. (نباید میرفتیم اونجا.)
❗ معمولاً نشونهی پشیمونی، انتقاد یا حسرت هست.
کاربرد دیگهاش: وقتی انتظار داریم کاری در گذشته انجام شده باشه:
(هواپیما تا الان باید رسیده باشه.)
✳️ معنی ساده:
Had better = بهتره که... (وگرنه ممکنه اتفاق بدی بیفته)
برخلاف should که یه توصیه ملایمه، Had better معمولاً همراه هشدار یا تهدید غیرمستقیمه.
📌 ساختار: فاعل + had better + فعل ساده
He had better not forget her birthday. (بهتره تولدش یادش نره!)
We had better call a doctor. (بهتره به دکتر زنگ بزنیم.)
⚠️ منفیش:
